Stem cell research

There was a good article in the PARADE section of Sunday's paper about stem cell research. It quotes Anne Solomon, director of the Ciotechnology and Public Policy Initiative at CSIS as saying "We're in a new year of globalization of scientific talent, materials and tools. If we don't have these tools, like embryonic stem cell research, other countries may move ahead of us." They absolutely will and that will be bad for our future as a leader in modern medicine. What great possibilities there are in that research. Anyone with a family member suffering from Parkinson's, genetic blood diseases, and, one day, possibly Alzheimer's disease, could be helped by this research. It is imperative that researchers in the US are allowed to participate in this research to the full extent. They are interested in healing sick body parts - not cloning human life!

Terrorists - the scum of the earth. Killing people in the name of their religion. I know of no religion that asks it's believers to commit murder. These people bring shame upon themselves and their religion. They call all outside of their religion "infidels". This makes me laugh - by using the word infidel one is declaring himself to be one.

Happy Independence Day! This is the best country in the world, warts and all! We have the right to complain and the right to vote. (Too bad so many choose complaining to voting.) Celebrate your freedom.
